“I have always known Balasaheb as a prolific orator and a humble person.
He would often ask me about the response of the audience to his speech, while travelling in his car after his public meetings,” said senior police inspector Bhanupratap Barge from Pune police crime branch.
Barge had worked as a personal security officer (PSO) of the special protection force for Shiv Sena supremo during 1989-1990 in Mumbai for almost a year.
He said, “Often Balasaheb would criticise the police in his speeches. However, later he would ask me not to take it to heart, as the criticism of the police was aimed at the state government and not at police personnel.”
